In urban areas, local animal rights groups tend to focus on two major strategies. One is preservation, which often targets getting stray animals adopted or put into shelters. The other strategy is prevention, which involves efforts to reduce the animal population, such as mass spaying / neutering of strays.

Over the 21st century, several major canons of art have emerged to represent the African-American experience.

Exceptionalist art, such as "Napoleon Leading the Army Over the Alps" and "President Barack Obama" by Kehinde Wiley, have placed modern black figures in positions of political power / luxury / historical influence.

By contrast, realist art like Amy Sherald's "Breonna Taylor Portrait" and "a single man in possession of a good fortune” have chosen to try to portray black figures in average settings—eating ice cream, at the beach, or simply dressed in modern clothes and staring directly at the viewer.

Currently, banks utilize risk models to help to evaluate the riskiness of individual decisions (e.g. lending, investing, etc.), as well as their cumulative portfolio. The vast majority of banks use internally created models based on their own competitive intelligence and assessments to measure risk.

Basel III Endgame is a series of proposed regulations which, among other changes, would force banks to utilize centralized risk calculation models as opposed to internally designed models.

In order to combat rising gang violence and prison overcrowding, governments generally engage one of two gang imprisonment policies. One is a segregating policy, where the government allocates certain prisons to individual gangs, only putting members of one gang in each facility. The other is an integration policy, where the government places multiple gangs within a singular prison.

Detroit was one of the most populous cities in the US in 1950, with a population of 1.8 million and a strong manufacturing sector. Over the subsequent decades, as manufacturing jobs moved offshore or were automated, the population of Detroit shrank significantly. As of 2020, it had a population of only about 600,000.

California's Fire Camp program allows prisoners to work as firefighters for wages of about $10.00 USD per day. This is one of the highest paid jobs in the American prison labour system. Participants are allowed to earn time off their sentences based on their participation (sentences are generally reduced by two days for every one day worked) and prisoners with a history of escape or sexual crime are not allowed to participate. There are currently about 1000 Fire Camp participants fighting the wildfires in Los Angeles.

A currency union is an agreement between many countries to issue a currency which is usable across borders (e.g. the Euro within the European union). Many developing countries have entered agreements to form currency unions which have a fixed exchange rate with a Western currency (e.g. the CFA Franc) and the exchange rate of the newly made currency moves with it as well. Others, more recently, such as ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) have attempted to create currencies which freely float and are backed by the collective economies of the nations within the currency union.

Exclusive art spaces refer to exhibits or installations that restrict access to a certain group of people, generally on the basis of identity. The Ladies' Lounge in the Museum of Old New Art (MONA) in Tasmania, Australia is an example of a recent exclusive art space that bans cis men from entering the exhibit. The museum was subsequently the subject of a discrimination lawsuit which caused the lounge to close.
